NAQUYO

An artistic research project initiated by MUTEK.JP in collaboration with the ArtScienceTechnology initiative Kyoto STEAM. Conceptualized by the artist Kazuya Nagaya, the project explored the sonic recreation of the ancient soundscapes of Kyoto in the Heian-kyō era. Over the course of three years the project hosted a series of sound recording sessions at Buddhist temples in and around Kyoto, audiovisual live performances, virtual and physical talks, and creative workshops aimed at university students.
